Riley’s Drugs is named for the late Dr. Mark Sidney “Sid” Riley, a Batesburg orphan who opened his first pharmacy on Main Street in Lexington in 1924. Lightning struck Riley’s second location in Red Bank and burned it, prompting him to rebuild the pharmacy on Columbia Avenue in 1947. Doc was the friend, mentor and eventual business partner to pharmacist Bob Perry who joined the Riley’s Drugs staff in 1967 after graduating from the USC College of Pharmacy. Today, Bob partners with his daughter, Roberta Vining, a second generation pharmacist and a 1987 graduate of USC College of Pharmacy. In 2012, Riley’s Drugs expanded just down the street to their current location at 1207 West Main Street in Lexington.
